Before- and After-School Program
Liberty offers free before-school care Monday-Friday, from 6:30-7:40 a.m. After-school programming is offered every afternoon following the conclusion of the school day, from 3:00–6:00 p.m.
The time is broken into three blocks: 3–4:15 p.m., 4:15–5:15 p.m., and 5:15–6:00 p.m. On Wednesdays, our early release days, there is additional programming between 12:15 and 3:00 p.m. The first hour block (3:00–4:15 p.m.) is devoted to offering students tutoring in reading, writing, and math. This assistance is provided by qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.
During the second hour, from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., we provide a wide range of club activities geared toward exposing students to new experiences, ideas, and possibilities. There are sports activities not taught during the normal school day, several clubs which meet once a week during this time, and more social and educational opportunities.
The program closes with homework help from qualified teachers and staff. The after-school Homework Club focuses on ensuring students have a clear understanding of what their homework requires of them, rather than getting it all complete before they leave. Thusly, children will likely still have homework to finish at home in the evenings.
